Exciting things at the Library!

There are lots of exciting things going on at the library! If you haven’t already heard about the summer programs, just ask any one of the thirty or more kids who are participating in one or more of the programs.

Why, there’s even a Summer Reading Program for Adults!

TABBY TINSLEY is the Children’s Librarian and the person responsible for the varied and creative programs being offered to the children of Crittenden County this summer. If you haven’t already met Tabby, please stop in to say hello. I’m sure she’ll be happy to meet you and to answer any questions you may have about upcoming programs/events for your children.

And, while you’re there, say hello to whoever is working that day. Regardless of whether you talk to Audra, Casey, Shawnee, or Regina you’re sure to get the latest library news. And don’t forget to check out the table where their book recommendations for the month are displayed. As you might guess, their taste in books covers a variety of subjects.

TRIVIA NIGHT was again a big success! The Topic was "It's Summertime," and the questions covered many aspects of the summer season. BRIAN HODGE, President of the Friends of the Library group worked with Library Director REGINA MERRICK to pull the visual presentation together. Although the crowd was not as large as the last Trivia night, those in attendance enjoyed lemonade, chips, dips, watermelon, cantaloupe, grapes, ice cream bars, and of course, cookies and brownies. There was fresh popcorn and prizes too! What more could you wish for????

Watch for the announcement of next Trivia Night and be sure to put the date on your calendar.

ADULT SUMMER READING: In case you don’t already know, the adult Summer Reading Challenge began on June 1; the challenge is to read thirteen books over the summer. Even though you’d be starting late, you can still join by inquiring and then signing up, at the library. Prizes for those who complete the challenge successfully!

FRIENDS OF THE CCPL is celebrating its 20th Anniversary this year! The group was formed in 2005 by a group of thirteen people; it later grew to ninety members and although the number of members fluctuates, today the membership has grown even more.

Members can be assured that their donations of time and money are appreciated. These donations allow the library to consider programs or program enhancements that might, without the Friends support, be impossible to present.

So, thank you to all the Friends members who show their support and affection through their donations! Remember too that the Friends officers and members meet monthly and all members are encouraged to attend.

Be informed! Remember to check out the Friends of the Crittenden County Public Library FACEBOOK page!
